FAQ's

  • When should I wear my mask?     Anytime  you shop.   Anytime you're around other people who could invade your 6' protection space.      Play it safe!
  • How long can I wear one mask?   You can wear it repeatedly, e.g. 10,15, 20 times or more, until it becomes soiled, dirty or until it feels harder to breath.   Treat it with respect and make it last.
  • How should I treat my reused mask?    Treat it like it's got virus particles on it or in it.   Only handle it with the ear loops.
  • What should I do with my mask when I'm not wearing it?     Hang it in air/sunlight.     I leave mine hanging on the review mirror.     First thing I do is put it on before starting the car and the last thing is to  carefully take it off and rehang in on the mirror.      Then wash my hands when I'm back inside.
  • If I can't hang it what else can i do? -  Place it in a paper bag.    DO NOT use plastic bags.    Reason...  the virus can survive longer on a plastic surface.
  • Can I clean my mask?    No, don't spray anything on it.  Don't get it wet.       It has a special electrostatic layer that grabs the virus that will get ruined.
  • Can I microwave the mask?    No.   It has a metal strip inside that can get very hot, even spark, and destroy the mask.
  • Can I bake the mask in my oven to kill the virus?     Yes.    A Michigan State study shows baking the mask at 160F for 30 minutes does the job.     Then set it aside in a sealed bag  (plastic is ok to use now) for 3 days to finish the decontamination.       Note - you don't need a commercial oven to do this.    https://www.wxyz.com/news/coronavirus/msu-baking-masks-to-decontaminate-re-use-for-healthcare-workers-during-covid-19-pandemic
  • When should I stop using my mask?     When it becomes soiled, gets wet, dirty, frayed, looks like it's coming apart or is hard to breath through.
  • How should I dispose of the mask?     Wear gloves and treat it like a used baby diaper.     Place it it a bag or multi-wrap in newspaper.    Then immediately discard in trash bin.
